Hawkesbury Harvest
The Hawkesbury has been known as the Sydney's 'food bowl' since the early days of the colony. Farm fresh produce was transported by boat down the Hawkesbury River to the sea and then down the coast to Sydney.
To the east, at the mouth of the magnificent Hawkesbury River near Brooklyn … To the south, the Grose River, flowing from the Blue Mountains, meets the Nepean River… To the west, along Bell's Line of Road to Mt Tomah & Mt Wilson… To the north, to the fertile valleys of the Colo River,
The region includes some of the most spectacular countryside in Sydney - farms nestled along scenic drives, rolling green hills lying peacefully below mist shrouded mountains, lush bush landscapes where horses, cattle and alpacas graze amid gum-dotted paddocks.
Farms and value added products, such as sheep and alpaca fibre, flowers plants & wine, can be found along the Farm Gate Trail which encompasses the three Shires of Baulkham Hills, Hornsby & Hawkesbury.
